It is. For Christ established the Catholic Church, and bade hergo and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. But He said also, "Hethat believes and is baptized shall be saved; he that believes notshall be condemned." He thereby tells us that not all who hearthe truth will accept it. He Himself did not convert all to whom Hepreached; and we must not be surprised if we ourselves have thesame experience. In individual cases, however, we must refuse tojudge as to the degree in which even those who have heard the truthconcerning the Catholic Church apprehend its significance. Theirresponsibility in remaining non-Catholics must be left to God.Meantime we can but pray for them, patiently bearing the trial thatthose we love show no present signs of conversion to Catholicism,or the fact that they are not converted as quickly as we couldwish. God's time is the best time. It is for us to plead thatHe may give them the grace of the Catholic Faith, and that they maycorrespond with that grace despite all difficulties when it becomesclear to them whither God is calling them.
